2024 / ONFALIA. ARTISTES EN LA REPRESENTACIÓ D’ALLÒ FEMENÍ
GRAN TEATRE ANTONIO FERRANDIS, PATERNA
GRAN TEATRE ANTONIO FERRANDIS, PATERNA

This piece is called ‘Camino sola’, translated ‘I walk alone’.
This photographic work addresses the fear and unease of walking alone through the city at night, a common experience for many women. This series of images captures the latent tension in every step, where silence is never complete: the distant roar of cars, the echo of an approaching engine, or the unexpected crunch of an object on the pavement become triggers for alertness.
The yellow light from the street lamps casts elongated and distorted shadows on the ground, creating an architectural landscape that, although familiar by day, is transformed into a hostile and uncertain setting in the dark. The photographs conveys not only fear, but also the emotional charge of a night-time routine marked by vulnerability and the need for resilience.
As a woman, this work is a way of remembering that anyone who belongs to a minority group can identify with this feeling, but that we also have the right to claim that the streets are ours too. We deserve to walk together through the streets of our city, freeing ourselves from the fears and hostility that surround us at night, thanks to the fact that many of us are walking together with this same feeling.
